If you run a repair business, you know all about competition and it is usually pretty tough. However, you probably also have a few loyal customers who return to you every time one of their devices act sup and you want to retain those customers- and obviously attract new ones or encourage repeat visits from one-timers.
While you may be repairing the same way as your competitors, what is actually going to set you apart is marketing. The way you communicate with your customers matters a lot- and what you offer them. Yet, not all repair experts are good marketers, so read on to find out how you can write eye-catching marketing messages that your customers will respond to.
1. Solve Problems
People love problem solvers and are always looking for a way to ease life’s hardships. That includes a broken phone or a dysfunctional laptop. However, you need to identify other problems that the customer may be facing, such as getting to a phone to you, too much time taken in repair, high service costs, replacements parts not being available, etc.
Write a message that identifies and solves that problem. For example, Do you need your phone repaired within 2 hours? We can do it even sooner! Messages like this will catch your customer’s attention and encourage them to read further.
2. Tell the Customer it is Important to Make a Move Now
Develop a sense of urgency in the customer to take action. For example, avail 50% off on all repair services from December 18th to the 31st or sign up now for a free gift, etc. You must encourage the customer to act within a specified timeframe in order to add a boost to your sales. If you don’t create a sense of urgency, the customer may delay action or may not pay as much attention to your message.
3. Sprinkle in Persuasive Words
Being persuasive is not as hard as you think it is. Research shows that there are five words which are highly persuasive in the English language. They are; you, free, instantly, because, new. They may seem like ordinary words to you, and they are, but they do cast a magical spell on the customer if used correctly.
Saying “you” means you are directly talking to the customer, “free” simply tells the customer you do not expect anything from him/her but are ready to give, give, give, instantly says that there is no wait required and because tells them that you are ready to give an explanation. If you use these words in your marketing pitch, they are likely to help you connect with the customer and create a bigger impact.
4. Make Sure Your Material is Scannable
Not everyone enjoys reading long articles and many judge the content beforehand by skimming it before they decide whether they want to spend more time on it. These people are called the “scanners”, in order for your content to be suitable for the scanners, you need to make sure your content has subheadings, pictures, quotes that will catch their eye and influence them to keep going. Hence, make sure you break it down like that.
5. Insert a Call-to-Action
The reason you are writing a marketing message is to obviously encourage action. Hence, make sure the action that you want the person to take is very clear and you word it appropriately. For example, visit us now, go to our website, sign up, purchase now, etc. You need to create a sense of urgency in your call-to-action in order to encourage your customers to perform the action soon.

6. Use the Right Tone
Ensure you use the right tone in your message. For example, if you want to be humorous make sure you use the appropriate words and usually shorter, catchier sentences would be more appropriate. If it is a formal message, you may want to use vocabulary that is a bit fancier and more appropriate and avoid slang. In the same manner, an informal message would need to be written in a more casual way with long and short sentences and perhaps a conversational tone.
